More subtle preachiness from Grampy Leo

Another example from September 2006. So why does Leo make this a blog entry? Self-righteousness? Likes to give unsolicited advice? You be the judge. Sorry grampy, I don't buy that you didn't party back in the day; double standards are not progressive.

Also check out the brown-nosing commenters. Charming. Straight out of Promises are we?

Why I'm here

I have searched the internets and have not found anyone else mention the regular deprecating comments Leo Laporte makes about Kevin Rose. Just listen to TWiT and occasionally the tech guy podcasts and whenever the subject of digg, revision3, or Kevin in particular comes up, Leo can't help himself.

Most recent example from TWiT 123: Patrick Norton and Leo discuss the rumor on ValleyWag that digg will be purchased by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, an idea that Leo apparently thinks is foolish (or more likely is jealous of). The question then arises, will News Corp also buy Rev3? Will Kevin be the new host of the Fox Business Channel? On its face, I have a hard time seeing Kevin as the host of the Fox Business Channel, but who am I to judge? However, Leo gets in his typical comments to the effect of: "Yeah right, Kevin Rose, [with slightly slurred mocking tone] 'hey let's have some beers and talk business' HAHAHAHAHAHA." Can we not use every opportunity to cry about Kevin and how he drinks beer on Diggnation? Please.

The purpose of this blog is to pull out and expose all of Leo's negative references to Kevin Rose, digg, and Rev3 in the hope that they will STOP. Leo, you're better than that. Don't be hatin'. Don't be bitter that Rev3 appears to be the next big thing and you're not a part of it. Don't try to pull them down with your not-so-subtle missives; join them. Can't we all just get along?

If anyone actually reads this and cares, I can hear the criticisms now:

1. "If you don't like what Leo says, stop listening to his podcasts." Ok, fine, but that's throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I like Leo's podcasts for the most part although he sometimes mails it in and seems disinterested in his callers, guests comments and topics.

2. "You don't speak for digg, Rev3, Kevin Rose or anyone else so just shut up." I choose to listen to both Rev3 and TWiT and I see this as an issue adversely affecting my enjoyment thereof, so if you don't like it get your own blog titled "Segovia sucks, let me count the ways."

There will be more posts on this topic in the future. In the meantime, feel free to comment.

Thanks.
